A Rough Feeding Guide: How to Serve Raw the Right Way

Feeding your dog a raw diet can be one of the most rewarding choices you make for their health and wellbeing. Whether you’re new to raw feeding or a long-time customer of raw dog food, understanding how to store, serve, and portion your dog’s meals is key to ensuring they receive the full benefits of a balanced, natural diet.

Getting Started: Defrosting & Preparation

Our raw meals are delivered frozen to lock in freshness and nutrients. Before serving, fully defrost the product in a cool place—preferably in the fridge overnight. Once defrosted, keep refrigerated and use within 24 hours.

For added variety and nutrition, feel free to mix in leftover vegetables or fruit (never grapes, onions, or other dog-toxic produce). We also recommend incorporating a herbal supplement such as Dorwest Keeper’s Mix or Easygreens Powder for extra natural support.

Feeding Guidelines by Weight

Every dog is different, and their energy needs will vary depending on age, activity level, and environment. That said, here’s a general guide to help you portion correctly:

Dog WeightDaily Amount
4kg – 10kg (8.8–22lb)100g – 250g
10kg – 20kg (22–44lb)250g – 500g
20kg – 30kg (44–66lb)500g – 750g
30kg – 40kg (66–88lb)750g – 1000g
40kg – 50kg (88–110lb)1000g – 1250g
50kg – 60kg (110–132lb)1250g – 1500g

These are guidelines only. Always monitor your dog’s condition and adjust portions as needed. And of course, fresh drinking water should always be available.
